Birthday Party Pictures

The Relief Society 171st Birthday Party was a real success and a great time for everyone. It was a Mad Hatter Party and sisters showed their spirit with lots of wild and whacky hats. The table decorations were fun and festive; dinner was delicious and the cake/cupcakes were works of art! We played a fun getting-to-know-you game, sort of like speed dating where we had to share "something cool about yourself". We also had a race to see which team could paint sisters' fingernails the fastest.

Many, many thanks to the "Enrichment Team", Nancy Anderson, Beth Moxley, Tia Langston, Shaena Nelson and Jenny Meyer for a job well done!

Brief Background on Relief Society

Relief Society was founded on March 17th, 1842 in Nauvoo, Illinois and has approximately 6 million members in over 170 countries and territories. The Relief Society is often referred to by the church and others as "one of the oldest and largest women's organizations in the world."

The motto of the Relief Society, taken from 1 Corinthians 13:8, is "Charity never faileth". The official purpose of Relief Society is to "prepare women for the blessings of eternal life by helping them increase their faith and personal righteousness, strengthen families and homes, and help those in need. Relief Society accomplishes these purposes through Sunday gospel instruction, other Relief Society meetings, visiting teaching, and welfare and compassionate service."
