"TO COMFORT THOSE WHO STAND IN NEED OF COMFORT"
lesson given by Betina Workman
The Maggie's
Look through each other's lens. You just might learn who people really are inside and out.
And Ponder this question Ladies.
"Who knows ALL your Maggie's?"
CHIEKO OKASAKI QUOTE "Atonement and Diversity in the Church."
Mosiah 18:8-9
- And it came to pass that he said unto them: Behold, here are the waters of Mormon (for thus were they called) and now, as ye are desirous to come into the fold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another's burdens, that they may be light;
- Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrection, that ye may have eternal life--
Empathy:(DR. BRENE BROWN)
- "Knowing our darkness well enough that we can sit in the dark with others. It is never a relationship between the wounded and the healed. Its a relationship between equals."
- "No one reaches out to you for compassion or empathy so you can teach them how to behave better."
- Understanding another's experience through their lens.
- Their lens is as true and valid as mine
- Non-Judgmental - we always judge in areas where we are vulnerable to shame, and we pick people who are doing worse than we are doing.
- Understand another's feelings
- Communicate our understanding of those feelings
- Reflect back in our face what they are saying with their words
