Women's Conference - Final Reminder

Women's Conference -
Final Reminder and Schedule of the Evening
Dear Sisters,

This afternoon it was brought to my attention that we needed to send out a schedule for Thursday evening's Women's Conference.

Women's Conference will go as follows:

6:30-6:55 Opening Session in the Chapel - President Pennington will be the main speaker for this session
7:00-7:40 Class Session 1
7:45-8:30 Class Session 2 (to include a closing prayer and blessing on the refreshments)
8:30-9:00 Dessert Bar in the Cultural Hall

You may want to send this to your sisters if you have an email list set up.

Hopefully many of you and the sisters in your units will have the opportunity to join us for an evening of inspiration and encouragement as we "lay aside the things of the world and seek for things of a better."

Thanks for all you do!

LESSON
presented by Michelle Hubert

" I'VE FALLEN AND I CAN'T GET UP!"

Skiing with his grandson, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf fell and found himself unable to get up.
“I began to wonder what it would take to rescue me,” related President Uchtdorf, second counselor in the First Presidency, in his priesthood session address. “That was when my grandson came to my side. I told him what had happened, but he didn’t seem very interested in my explanations of why I couldn’t get up. He looked me in the eyes, reached out, took my hand, and in a firm tone said, ‘Opa, you can do it now!
“Instantly I stood.
“I am still shaking my head over this. What had seemed impossible only a moment before immediately became reality, because a 12-year-old boy reached out to me and said, ‘You can do it now!’ To me it was an infusion of confidence, enthusiasm and strength.”
Drawing a lesson from the experience, President Uchtdorf said to the priesthood session congregation that there may be times in one’s life when rising up and continuing on may seem beyond one’s ability.
“Sometimes we just need someone to look us in the eyes, take our hand and say, ‘You can do it now!’” he remarked.
He added, “Brethren, our destiny is not determined by the number of times we stumble but by the number of times we rise up, dust ourselves off and move forward.”
“That does not mean that we should be comfortable with our weaknesses, mistakes or sins. No,” he said. “And there is an important difference between the sorrow for sin that leads to repentance and the sorrow that leads to despair.”
When guilt leads to self-loathing, it impedes rather than promotes repentance, he said.
“Let us rise up and become men of God. We have a champion, a Savior, who walked through the valley of the shadow of death on our behalf. He gave Himself a ransom for our sins. No one has ever had greater love than this – Jesus Christ, the Lamb without blemish, willingly laid Himself on the altar of sacrifice and paid the price for our sins to the ‘uttermost farthing.’”
My dear brethren, my dear friends, there will be times when you think you cannot continue on. Trust the Savior and His love. With faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and the power and hope of the restored gospel, you will be able to walk tall and continue on.
The Latter Day Saint's view a fall as an ascent not a step backwards. It's all part of the learning process.

MARYKAY FOR MATTHEW

Hello to all of you,

I was reminded last week of how precious and fragile life really is.  A friend and coworker of mine, Matthew Schrader, age 34, was killed in a motorcycle accident on January 21, 2014.  He leaves behind a sweet wife and two precious girls, ages 6 and 4.  Matt was the sole provider for his family and unfortunately did not have a life insurance policy, which has left his young family in a very tough spot.  Not only are they grieving for a wonderful husband and father, but they are faced with huge financial difficulties while they attempt to rebuild their lives without him.

In order to help them in some way, I have decided to donate all of the profits from my Mary Kay sales for the rest of January and for the month of February to Sarah and the girls.  So now is the time to stock your bathrooms with great products, finish your Valentine's Day shopping, or get a jump on Mother's Day gift giving and help a family in need at the same time.  Don’t forget about upcoming birthdays, anniversaries, bridal showers, housewarming parties, etc. There is something for everyone and in every price range within your budget.  Gift wrapping and delivery is FREE in the Temecula/Murrieta area.

You can shop online at www.marykay.com/jodikolb or call/text me at (509) 981-6751 to shop in person.  Not local but still want to host a party??  I would love to help you set up an online party if that would work best for you.  Please forward this information to your friends and family as well.

Thank you in advance for helping me to help this family.  And please take the time to let your loved ones know how much they mean to you -- we never know what tomorrow will bring.  May God bless all of you!

Sincerely,
Jodi Kolb, Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant

Relief Society Lesson Overview

We can live after the manner of happiness
"It is the will of the Lord to strengthen and preserve the family unit"

THE LAW OF THE GOSPEL:
We answered with one word. LOVE
Heavenly Father has shown his love by giving us His love.
Again and again and yet again.

Family is most important organization in time or in eternity
We Read the story where Douglas A. Smith said that he and his father had a "great relationship."
He shared examples of activities they enjoyed together: " We used to box once in a while, or at least feign the act of boxing.  I had too much respect to hit him and he too much love to hit me. ... It was more or less shadow boxing. We used to play chess and I rejoiced when I could beat him. Now I look back and feel that maybe it was prearranged."
Disciplining his children consisted of ... His daughter Amelia reveals her fathers method.  "Simply put his hands on our shoulders and looking into our eyes with a hurt look in his own, said, ' I wish my kiddies would be good.' No spanking or other punishment could ever have been more effective. "

If I had to suggest one thing which I think we as parents are most lacking, it would be a sympathetic understanding of children. Live with the children; follow their paths. ... Know everything that claims the interest of the children,be a good sport. We have been trying to impress upon parents the need of paying more attention to their children, having more of the spirit of the gospel in their homes, a little more unity and a little more faith; a little more responsibility, spiritually on the part of the fathers; also, of the mothers; more of the teachings of the gospel in the home.

"IF NOT SUSTAINING HEAVENLY FATHER
WE ARE SUSTAINING SATAN "

Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal, is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he was robbed. The fact is that most putts don't drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old rusty rail journey.. delays, side tracks, smoke, dust, cinders and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.
                                                                                         -Gordon B. Hinckley
